A Season Ago

The Bulldogs and Pirates played to a 0-0 tie at Seton Hall last season. 110 minutes of back and forth action could not separate the two clubs. The result marked Butler's ninth-straight shutout of the season. Butler played Providence twice in 2017, posting a 2-0 record against the Friars.  The Bulldogs picked up a 2-1 double overtime victory at Providence in the first meeting of the season. Paige Monaghan opened up the scoring for BU with an unassisted finish to the upper right side of the goal. The game-winner featured Monaghan pushing the ball up the left side. Her cross to Caitlyn DiSarcina ended the contest at the 108:24 mark. Butler also defeated Providence 3-0 to advance to the championship match of the 2017 BIG EAST Tournament. Caitlyn DiSarcina, Julia Leonard and Paige Monaghan all found the back of the net for the Bulldogs to lead the team to victory.
