2018 Phil Steele FCS All Freshman Team
 
INDIANAPOLIS -- Butler defensive end Mickey Kane was named to the 2018 Phil Steele FCS Freshman All-America Second Team. The talented newcomer led Butler with five sacks this season.
 
Kane made a major impact in Butler's first PFL game of the season by recording three sacks in the 24-21 win over Morehead State. Additional sacks would be recorded at Valparaiso (Oct. 13) and at home vs. Dayton (Oct. 27). He led all PFL freshmen defenders with 10 tackles for loss and five sacks while playing all 11 games for Butler.
 
Stops behind the line of scrimmage were the bulk of Kane's 21-tackle performance in 2018. The 2018 PFL Co-Freshman Defensive Player of the Year was also tabbed All-Pioneer League honorable mention. Other season highlights for Kane during his first season included a season-high four tackles at Jacksonville (Nov. 3) and a fumble recovery in the season opener at #24 Youngstown State.
