Bevelhimer Named PFL Special Teams Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS – Bulldog placekicker Drew Bevelhimer lifted Butler to victory on Saturday afternoon with a game-winning 38-yard field goal and was therefore recognized as the Pioneer Football League Special Teams Player of the Week.

The Bulldogs came up with three points late in the game to secure the win over Valparaiso. After a Crusader rushing touchdown with just 19 seconds left on the game clock, BU got a solid kickoff return of 28 yards from AJ Deinhart and a pass from Sam Brown to Stephen Dennis covered 15 yards to move the ball to teh 50-yard line.

Butler stopped the clock with 10 seconds to play and Brown would end up scrambling out of the pocket on the next play for a gain of nine. Flags hit the field at the conclusion of the play and Valpo would be hit with a 15-yard personal foul that moved BU into field goal range. Bevelhimer would come up just short from 43-yards out, but another penalty would benefit BU and move the ball up five more yards.

Two Valpo timeouts followed the offsides call and after all the chaos, senior Drew Bevelhimer would allow Butler to win on Senior Day by hitting a 38-yarder for the win!

Butler will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 23 with a road game at Dayton. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 PM.
