2020 Butler Softball Schedule
Butler's 2020 softball schedule includes five early-season tournaments followed by the always-challenging BIG EAST slate. Butler announced its spring schedule Tuesday, Nov. 19.
"This is a schedule that gives our team the opportunity to prepare well for BIG EAST play," said Butler coach
Scott Hall. "The non-conference is filled with quality opponents at great destinations. This is a talented team that has worked hard throughout the fall season, and I'm excited to see them attack the spring season in the same way."
The Bulldogs will open the season indoors in Rosemont, Ill., Feb. 7-9 at the Loyola-hosted Rambler Rumbler. Butler will play Green Bay, Evansville, Nebraska-Omaha, Western Illinois, and host Loyola.
The following weekend takes the Bulldogs to Madeira Beach, Fla., for the first of two visits to The Spring Games. Butler will play a total of six games Feb. 14-16 before returning to Florida March 11-15 for seven games as part of the team's annual Spring Break trip.
The Bulldogs will also spend portions of the non-conference schedule at the Liberty Softball Classic in Lynchburg, Va. Feb. 28-March 1 and at a tournament hosted by the University of Memphis March 6-8.
Butler's home opener is March 17 when Green Bay visits the Butler Softball Field. The Bulldogs will also host non-conference games against Miami (Ohio) April 7, Ball State April 15, and IUPUI April 21.
The Bulldogs open BIG EAST play March 20-22 at DePaul. The BIG EAST has moved to Friday-Saturday-Sunday, three-game series with 2020.
Butler's first BIG EAST series in Indianapolis is March 27-29 when Seton Hall visits. The Bulldogs will also host conference series against Providence (April 17-19) and Creighton (May 1-3), while traveling to Georgetown (April 3-5), Villanova (April 10 and 11), and St. John's (April 24-26). The series with Villanova has an adjusted schedule due to Easter Weekend.
The top four teams in the BIG EAST standings will qualify for the 2020 BIG EAST Tournament May 8 and 9 in Rosemont, Ill.
The Bulldogs return 2019 All-BIG EAST honorees
Maddie Moore and
Lauren Fey, as well as junior left-hander
Alyssa Graves, who led the BIG EAST in strikeouts a season ago. That trio is joined by a strong group of returning letterwinners and a talented freshman class.
