@ButlerSoftball Heads to Western Kentucky for 2019 Hilltopper Classic

The Bulldogs continue the early portion of the 2019 schedule Sunday and Monday, traveling to Bowling Green, Ky., to participate in the Hilltopper Classic hosted by Western Kentucky University.

Due to rain, the schedule was adjusted and games were pushed to Sunday and Monday. The Bulldogs will now play four games. Butler will face Indiana State and host Western Kentucky Sunday, followed by contests with Cleveland State and Indiana State Monday.

Live stats for all games are available with links on ButlerSports.com.

The Bulldogs enter play in Bowling Green with a 4-6 record on the young season. Butler has posted 2-3 marks in consecutive weekend events.

Senior Jenna Foreman leads the BIG EAST by a wide margin with nine stolen bases already this season. Her .447 batting average is second in the conference. Foreman's 17 hits and nine stolen bases come a season after she set Butler single-season marks in both statistics.

Foreman earned a spot on the five-member BIG EAST weekly honor roll after leading the Bulldogs' offensive attack at the Madeira Beach Invitational with a .389 batting average. She went a perfect 7-of-7 on stolen bases, had seven hits and scored four runs as Butler defeated Holy Cross and Drexel.

Sophomore Alyssa Graves is third in the BIG EAST in both ERA (2.94) and innings pitched (31).

Foreman, Kaitlin Doud and Christina Candotti have started all 10 games so far this season for the Bulldogs. Doud has seen extended time pitching, as well as at first base and second base. Doud leads the Bulldogs with six RBI this season.

Like Doud, freshman Karli Ricketts has also seen her time split between the field and the pitching circle. Her 15.2 innings pitched trail only Graves, while her five RBI trail only Doud. Ricketts has a team-high three doubles.

Senior Sammy Andersen is second on the team with a .296 batting average. She has taken hold of the catching position early in the season, starting eight of the 10 games behind the plate. Freshman Lauren Fey is third on the team in batting at .294. Her three stolen bases are second only to Foreman.

Following the four games at Western Kentucky, the Bulldogs have a weekend off before traveling to Bloomington, Ind., for a game with Indiana on Tuesday, March 5.
