The Butler men's tennis team lost a close match to the Dayton Flyers 4-3 on Friday. Butler fell behind early with a pair of losses in the doubles portion of the match, but rallied to even the score in the singles matches.
Mason Dragos continued his win streak today with a two set sweep of Dayton's Jordan Benjamin at the No.1 spot. Dragos won the first set 6-4, and escaped the second set with a 7-6 victory to complete the match. Dragos now holds a record of 6-1 on the season.
Thomas Brennan and
Ryan Roegner also had impressive victories at the Butler Bubble. Brennan defeated his opponent in straight sets at the No. 4 spot, not allowing a single point, 6-0 and 6-0. Roegner delivered the Bulldogs another straight set victory at the No. 5 position over Joe DeMarco 6-1, 6-4.
Spencer Lang,
Aviv Ben Shabat and
Michael Dickson all dropped their matches in the singles portion of the match. Lang put up a hard-fought battle in the No. 6 spot, taking Steven Karl to three sets before, before falling 6-3 in the third set.
Dayton defeated Dickson and Dragos in the No. 1 spot and Brennan and Lang in the No. 3 spot to clinch the doubles point.
Butler is back on the court tomorrow when they take on Washington University (Mo.) at the Butler Bubble at 10 a.m.Â
