Behind Sabins, @ButlerUGolf Men Lead Benbow Invitational After First Round

Logan Sabins paced Butler and the field with a three-under 69 in Monday's opening round of the Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.
Sabins enters Tuesday's final 18 holes with a one-shot lead over Evansville's Spencer Wagner and Tyler Roat.
 
As a team, the Bulldogs fired a two-over total of 290 on Monday, one shot better than Albany State. Evansville (297) is third in the eight-team men's field.
 
Sabins was not alone in successfully navigating the 6,784-yard Blue Sky Golf Course in Jacksonville. Michael Cascino shot an even-par 72 and is alone in sixth place.
 
Augie Hartnagel (74, +2), Patrick Allgeier (75, +3) and freshman Raymond Sullivan (75, +3) are tied for tenth and 18th, respectively.
 
Nick Williams, playing as an individual, shot a 78 (+6) Monday and is tied for 29th.
 
Tuesday's final 18 holes are scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The annual event is named for Don Benbow, the Butler Athletics Hall of Famer who had a storied career at Butler as a student-athlete, coach and administrator.
