The Bulldogs opened their outdoor season by hosting the Stan Lyons Invitational this weekend on the Butler campus.Â

The cold on Saturday afternoon did not stop several Butler athletes from winning events and posting personal bests.Â

On the men's side, the first personal best came in the 1500-meters with
Chandler McGaha's time of 4:08.10. This time was 7.95 seconds faster than his previous best and was good for second overall in the event.
Â
Colton Haymon won the 100-meter dash with a personal best time of 11.13. Haymon also won the 200 meters with a time of 22.53(wind-aided).

Jacob Uhl and
Connor Fuller placed in the top two spots of the 400-meter dash with Uhl finishing in 50.39 and Fuller in 52.26. Fuller added a second-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 23.07(wind-aided).

Lascelles Hussey was the first collegian to cross the line in the 800-meter run with a personal best time of 1:57.12. McGaha finished as the second collegian with a time of 1:57.55

Sophomore
Blake Roberts won the men's 3000-meters with a time of 8:59.00. Teammate
Nick Robie finished third with a time of 9:08.36.

In the field for the men, there were several strong performances.
Â
Richard Clark won the javelin with a mark of 45.76m(150'1").Â
Sam Robinson placed third with a mark of 39.50m(129'7")
Â
Robinson also performed well in the long jump as he won the event with a distance of 6.53m(21'5.25").

In the high jump,
Luke Russell won the event and tied his personal best mark of 1.80m(5'10.75"). Russell added a second place finish in the long jump with a distance of 6.51m(21'4.25").

For the women,
Madeline Miller,
Rebecca Collester, and
Angela Neddeau finished two through four in the 400-meter dash with times of 1:00.80, 1:02.88, and 1:03.47, respectively. MaQuila Norman of Ball State won with a time of 1:00.65.

Freshman
McKenzie Greene placed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.36. She was followed by
Nina Hilt who finished in 15.94. Anasja Troutman of Ball State won the event, finishing in 14.64.

Carson Fields finished fourth in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes with times of 12.68 and 26.40 respectively.

In the 3000-meter run, freshman
Corinna Pena started her outdoor career on the right foot as she finished third overall with a time of 10:12.19. Also in the 3000-meters,
Kara Stark set a new personal record as she finished with a time of 10:25.54.

In javelin,
Karmen Koch and
Molly Kracht finished second and third overall. Koch hit a mark of 33.18m(108'10") and Kracht with a mark of 29.78(97'8").
Â
Nina Hilt finished second overall in the long jump to Taiza Alexander of Evansville. Hilt's mark of 4.71m(15'5.5") was just behind Alexander's mark of 4.72m(15'6").
The Bulldogs continue outdoor action next weekend, competing in the Black and Gold Invitational, hosted by Vanderbilt, on March 22-23.
