Butler head coach Paul Snape and his staff have put together a 2019 schedule that is sure to be among the most competitive in the country. Butler announced the 2019 schedule Thursday, April 11.

"This year's schedule is one of our most challenging and exciting in the last decade," said Snape, who enters his ninth season in charge of the Butler program. "Our non-conference schedule will require us to be at our physical and mental best. I've always believed that to be recognized as one of the elite teams in the nation you must consistently schedule and beat top-ranked teams. Our BIG EAST Conference will be as competitive as ever. We will be extremely focused and motivated to make sure that we are contending for honors at the end of the season. Go Dawgs!"

Butler's non-conference foes include three of the four 2018 national semifinalists. The Bulldogs will host national semifinalist Indiana Sept. 24 and national runner-up Akron Oct. 8 at the Sellick Bowl. The match-up with the Hoosiers is the annual derby between the in-state rivals. Butler and the Zips also faced off in the 2018 season opener, which ended in a 2-2, double-overtime result.

Butler and Michigan State, the third national semifinalist on the Bulldogs' 2019 schedule, will meet in East Lansing in one of three exhibitions to begin Butler's slate. Butler opens the exhibition portion of its schedule Sunday, Aug. 18 at Oakland before traveling to Michigan State Aug. 20. The third exhibition is also the home opener for the Bulldogs as Ohio State visits Indianapolis Saturday, Aug. 24.

Butler's 2019 schedule also includes Lipscomb and Georgetown, as both programs advanced to the 2018 NCAA Tournament Round of 16.

Non-conference home matches welcome Western Michigan (Aug. 30), Evansville (Sept. 2), and Wisconsin (Sept. 12) to the Sellick Bowl, in addition to the Ohio State, Indiana and Akron contests.

Road non-conference games will take the Bulldogs to Marshall (Sept. 6), SIUE (Sept. 17), and Lipscomb (Oct. 15), in addition to the two road exhibitions.

Georgetown, the 2018 BIG EAST regular season and tournament champions, is the first BIG EAST opponent on the Butler schedule as the Hoyas come to Indianapolis Friday, Sept. 20.

The always-competitive BIG EAST field has Georgetown visiting the Sellick Bowl, in addition to St. John's (Sept. 28), DePaul (Oct. 12), Villanova (Oct. 27 at Varsity Field), and Xavier (Nov. 6). Butler will travel to Providence (Oct. 4), Seton Hall (Oct. 19), Marquette (Oct. 23), and Creighton (Nov. 2).

The top six teams in the BIG EAST standings will qualify for the 2019 BIG EAST Tournament. Quarterfinals begin Nov. 9 with the top two seeds automatically advancing to the semifinals Nov. 13. The championship match is Sunday, Nov. 17.

The 2019 Olympic Sports Pass goes on sale Wednesday, May 15 at 10 a.m., and single-match tickets will go on sale June 1.

The Bulldogs return their top five scorers from the 2018 campaign and add a talented recruiting class. Butler earned consecutive berths in the NCAA Tournament in 2016 and 2017.
