CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. – Because of pending thunderstorms that included lightning, play in the first round of the BIG EAST Women's Golf Championship Presented by Jeep was suspended for the remainder of the day at the Callawassie Island Golf Club. Each group played at least 10 holes. The first round will be completed on Saturday morning before the second round is played.
None of the five Bulldogs were able to complete their Friday round. Senior
Lauren Tibbets is eight-over through 15 holes. She is followed by
Katelyn Le, who is 10-over through 15.
Megan Skoog (+11) and
Ally Ross (+15) have each played 16 holes.
Claire Edwards is 17-over through 17 holes.
Friday's play featured windy conditions that included a gale force wind advisory.
Saturday will now feature the conclusion of the first round in addition to the regularly-scheduled 18 holes of the second round. Sunday will see the final 18 holes of the tournament. The team winner of the BIG EAST Championship receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship.
