‘Dawgs Win Tuesday Tilt vs. Northern Kentucky 9-5

INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler baseball team picked up their 19th win of the season on Tuesday with a 9-5 decision over visiting Northern Kentucky. A team effort featured six hits by six different players.

The Bulldogs faced a 3-1 deficit after the first inning, but would fire back with two runs in the third and three runs in both the fourth and the fifth innings to pull out the victory.

The Norse lead came on one swing as Doersching homered to center with two runners on base in the first. Robbie McCargar would get one of those runs back for BU in the bottom half by finding room up the middle to score Zach Jarosz.

BU runs in the third came around courtesy of McCargar and James Gargano. BU tied the game at 4-4 in the fourth with Kyle Smith touching home plate on a fielder's choice at-bat from Gargano. Connor Dall would draw a walk with the bases loaded to give the 'Dawgs a 5-4 edge.

Freed singled in the fifth to drive home a run and Gargano would supply the team with a sac fly to deep right that scored Smith. Butler's ninth and final run came from Freed after a wild pitch.

Connor Schultz would get the start for BU on the hill, but the win would go to Joe Graziano out of the bullpen (2-4). Graziano struck out three over four innings of action. Quentin Miller and Jack Myers also touched the rubber for Butler. Myers struck out four while Miller added two.

Butler will return to action tomorrow at Bulldog Park. The team will host IU-Kokomo at 4 PM.
