CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. – Butler junior Patrick Allgeier is alone in third place and just three shots off the lead after two rounds of the BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship Presented by Jeep, at the Callawassie Island Golf Club.

Allgeier used four birdies to balance the four blemishes on his card for an even-par 72. Saturday's round was shot better than his opening-round 73. Allgeier entered the second round in a four-way tie for second, just one shot off the lead.

Two of the players who entered the day tied with Allgeier are now at the top of the leaderboard. DePaul's Charlie Spencer White shot a three-under 69 Saturday for the best round of the day. He moved into the individual lead at two-under 142. Villanova's Mark Benevento shot a one-under 71 and is alone in second at even-par 144.

Allgeier is in third at one-over 145, one shot ahead of Seton Hall's Chris Yeom entering the final round. First-round leader Bradley Keyer of Creighton shot a three-over 75 Saturday and tied for fifth.

As a team, the Bulldogs enter the final round in the same spot they entered Saturday's play, which is in fourth place. Butler shot a team total of 302 Saturday, which was two shots better than their round Friday. That puts the Bulldogs at 606 (+30).

Seven of the nine teams shot better rounds on Saturday than they did over Friday's first 18, highlighted by Marquette, who had a 15-shot improvement to move from third to first on the leaderboard. Marquette is at 591 (+15) after shooting an even-par 288 Saturday. The Golden Eagles have a six-shot lead over DePaul (597; +21), and an eight-shot advantage over first-round leader Creighton (599; +23).

The Bulldogs are fourth, two shots ahead of Seton Hall (608) and three shots clear of Xavier (609). Those three teams will be paired together Sunday in the final round. Georgetown (612), St. John's (622), and Villanova (623) stand in seventh through ninth place, respectively.

Logan Sabins and Augie Hartnagel each shot three-over 75s on Saturday. Sabins entered the round one shot off the lead. Through 36 holes, his four-over total of 148 has him alone in tenth place.

Sabins shot one-under on the back nine. His only tough patch for the round were holes five through seven where he was four-under. Hartnagel's 75 included three birdies.

Hartnagel has climbed into a tie for 28th at 12-over 156. Freshman Raymond Sullivan, with an 80 Saturday after a 78 in the opening round, is 32nd at 158 (+14).

Michael Cascino shot 84 Saturday. His two-day total of 164 has him in 40th.

The 54-hole event is scheduled for a final 18 holes beginning Sunday morning at 8 a.m.

The BIG EAST team winner earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.  Should the individual champion not be a member of the championship team, he will also earn a spot in the NCAA Championship field as an individual.
