@ButlerSoftball Heads to Seton Hall for Weekend BIG EAST Series

The Bulldogs return to the road and BIG EAST play this weekend, traveling to New Jersey for a three-game series with Seton Hall.

Seton Hall will stream all three games live. The schedule includes a doubleheader Saturday followed by a single game Sunday.

Butler is 1-2 in BIG EAST play and had all three games of last weekend's series with Villanova cancelled due to wintry weather in the Indianapolis area. Seton Hall is 2-2 in conference play. The Pirates were only able to play one of their three scheduled games with DePaul last weekend.

Butler took two of the three games played between the two teams in Indianapolis in 2018.

The Bulldogs' only action of the last week came with a single road game Wednesday night in downtown Indianapolis against IUPUI. Butler pulled out a 7-6 win in 10 innings.
Freshman Karli Ricketts led the Bulldogs with a career night in that contest. Her career-best four hits (in five at-bats) included two solo home runs. The first multi-home run game of her career gives her three long balls on the season. Ricketts also picked up the win in the circle, going 6.0 innings and allowing only three hits and one unearned run.

The Bulldogs tied a season-high with 15 hits Wednesday night against the Jaguars. Five Bulldogs had multi-hit performances as Ricketts was joined by Kaitlin Doud (three), Jenna Foreman (two), Lauren Fey (two), and Sammy Andersen (two).

Doud and Andersen each belted their third home run of the season in the game.

Foreman leads the Bulldogs with a .340 batting average. Foreman's 35 hits are sixth in the BIG EAST. She had a season-best four hits against Evansville Feb. 9. She has 10 multi-hit games on the season.

The Bulldogs are second in the BIG EAST with 37 stolen bases. Foreman's 24 stolen bases are more than double the next BIG EAST player (who has 11). Foreman now has an even 100 career stolen bases, the most in Butler history. Four of those stolen bases came vs. Holy Cross Feb. 16.

Fey is second on the team in batting average, hitting at a .329 clip. She tied a Butler single-game record with five hits against La Salle on March 17.

Maddie Moore carries a current six-game hitting streak into this weekend's play. She is the third Bulldog hitting better than .300 (.317).

Doud and Andersen are tied for the team-lead with 16 RBI; Ricketts has 15. Madi Christiansen and Claire Gilliland each have 11 RBI on the season. Eight of Gilliland's 12 hits have been for extra bases, giving her a .424 slugging percentage.

Butler's 3.56 ERA as a team is third in the BIG EAST, while the Bulldogs have struck out a conference-best 180 opposing batters. Graves (3.08) and Doud (3.40) are seventh and tenth, respectively, in the BIG EAST in ERA so far this season. Graves has 98 strikeouts in 88.2 innings pitched. Those 98 strikeouts are second in the conference.

Following the weekend series at Seton Hall, the Bulldogs are slated for a five-game homestand that begins with a Thursday game with Purdue Fort Wayne and includes a three-game BIG EAST series with Georgetown.
