MUNCIE, Ind. – Butler scored four of their five runs in the seventh inning after a
Harrison Freed grand slam, but the Bulldogs were unable to pull off the comeback allowing the Cardinals to post a 12-5 win. The Bulldogs move to 17-13 on the season while Ball State improves to 21-11.
Ball State took control of the action in the third inning. Butler opened the frame with a 1-0 lead after an RBI single from Freed, but the Cardinals would respond with five runs off five hits highlighted by a two-RBI double from Sebby and a two-RBI single by Baker.
Ball State added a single run in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Freed cut deficit to 8-5 with his second grand slam over his past three games. The BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recipient ended his day 2-for-4 with five RBI.
Ball State had six different student-athletes knock in at least one run in. Four of the six had a multi-RBI performances against BU.
The loss went to starter
Joe Graziano while the win was picked up by Nick Floyd. Graziano went 2.2 innings, striking out three. He was one of seven Bulldog arms to touch the rubber at Ball Diamond.
Butler will look to get back on track this weekend when they host Creighton in a three-game series at Bulldog Park.
