WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Georgetown Hoyas used two extra base hits in the bottom of the eighth inning to record a 6-2 victory over Butler on Friday night. This loss paired with a St. John's win earlier today has officially ended Butler's chance at the postseason.
Butler got three hits from lead-off man
Zach Jarosz and starter
Connor Schultz would give BU 7.1 solid innings of work, but the outcome would go to the home team to even the weekend series at 1-1.
Harrison Freed was responsible for the first run of the ballgame as his fielder's choice RBI allowed
Connor Dall to reach home in the third. Georgetown knotted the game at 1-1 in the bottom half of the inning on a RBI ground out.
The next run would not come around until the seventh inning. BU scored off a wild pitch, but Georgetown would once again answer with an RBI double down the leftfield line.
The eighth inning told the full story as Ruedisili and Gamache each picked up RBIs on extra base hits. Ruedisili doubled down the rightfield line to score Nelson and Gamache collected two RBI with one swing of the bat after finding room in left-center.
Shultz was hit with his first loss of the season on the mound (6-1), while the win was awarded to Lamon out of the GU bullpen.
BU will end the season tomorrow with a 1PM game vs. the Hoyas.
