Butler head coach
Daniel Pollock has secured the best recruiting class in program history, according to rankings from TennisRecruiting.net.
Pollock's class is ranked No. 36 nationally and No. 15 among programs outside the Power 5 by Tennis Recruiting. No Butler recruiting class has ever been ranked higher.
Butler's five-player class includes Spain's Alvaro Huete Vadillo, Filip Tensing and Olof Wiklund of Sweden, Michael Karr (Darien, Conn.), and Zachary Trimpe (Edwardsville, Ill.).
Pollock's first recruit after being hired as Butler's head coach in August of 2018 was
Thomas Brennan from Ireland, who joined the Bulldogs' roster prior to the 2019 spring season. As a freshman, Brennan played at the No. 2 spot for much of the season, earning All-BIG EAST second team honors.
The Bulldogs will need to replace six seniors from the 2019 team, including four who were featured prominently in the line-up. This recruiting class will go a long way in doing that.
The Bulldogs are coming off a school-record 21 wins in 2019, as the team advanced to the semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament. Butler came in at No. 10 in the final ITA rankings for the Ohio Valley region, while graduating senior
Mason Dragos earned All-BIG EAST first team honors for the fourth consecutive season.
Butler was the only BIG EAST program to receive votes in the national TennisRecruiting.net recruiting class poll.
In addition to Brennan, Butler also returns several letterwinners with big-match experience, including 2018 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year
Michael Dickson and sophomore-to-be
Ryan Roegner.
