Jared Timmer earned a spot on the 2019 Preseason All-BIG EAST team, and the Bulldogs were picked to finish sixth in the league standings. The conference's head coaches voted for the preseason accolades, which were announced by the conference office Wednesday, Aug. 21.
Â
Timmer started 17 matches in 2018, predominantly in the midfield. Timmer, who is a co-captain in 2019, was a 2016 All-BIG EAST First Team selection and a member of the 2015 BIG EAST All-Freshman Team. He missed a majority of the 2017 season due to injury before returning to action last season.
Â
The Bulldogs were picked to finish sixth in the preseason poll.
Â
Georgetown junior forward Derek Dodson was voted Preseason Offensive Player of the Year with teammate Dylan Nealis, a senior back, named Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Creighton sophomore Paul Kruse was the preseason pick for Goalkeeper of the Year.
Â
The Hoyas received all nine potential first-place votes and a total of 81 points.
Â
The Bulldogs have their final exhibition scheduled for Saturday night at the Sellick Bowl when Ohio State visits. The regular season opener is Friday, Aug. 30 against Western Michigan.
