@ButlerMSoccer Tops Wisconsin to Improve to 3-1

Butler produced a clean sheet in Thursday night's contest against Wisconsin, taking a 1-0 decision at the Sellick Bowl in Indianapolis.

The win improves Butler's record to 3-1 on the young season, while the Badgers of the Big Ten fall to 2-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Butler was able to generate several scoring chances, but capitalized on only one. It came in the 49th minute as Alex Lehtinen and Logan Lee combined to find Wilmer Cabrera, Jr., 12 yards in front of the frame. The freshman corralled the pass and took a touch to get the ball on his left foot. His bending shot found the left side of the goal past the outstretched arms of Wisconsin keeper Dean Cowdroy.
Butler keeper Gabriel Gjergji made the lead stand up, making a diving save to his left on a blast from Wisconsin's Zach Klancnik just two minutes after the Bulldogs took a 1-0 advantage.

OF NOTE:
  • Butler is now 3-0 at the Sellick Bowl this season.
  • The shutout was the second of the season for Butler's Gjergji, and the third of the sophomore's career. He made two saves.
  • Cabrera, Jr., now has two goals on the season; both have been game-winners.
  • Butler limited the Badgers to only four shots in the contest; in contrast, Butler took 10.

UP NEXT:

The Bulldogs take to the road for a Tuesday night contest at SIUE. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. (Central) start.
