Lee and Guhl Find the Net in @ButlerMSoccer's Win Over Evansville

The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 on the season with a win over Evansville Monday night at the Sellick Bowl on the Butler campus. Sophomore Logan Lee and senior Brandon Guhl netted goals in the 2-0 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Butler was able to withstand four early corner kicks by the visiting Purple Aces before starting to take control of the match midway through the first half. In the 26th minute, freshman Wilmer Cabrera, Jr., got inside the box and his shot got by the UE keeper, but an Evansville defender was able to clear it off the back line.

Just minutes later, Lee found the net with a header over the outstretched arms of Evansville keeper Frederik Reimer. Senior Alex Lehtinen assisted on the goal after entering the match minutes earlier. It was the first action of 2019 for Lehtinen, who has been nursing an injury.

The insurance goal came in the 64th minute as Jack Haywood played a ball into the right side of the box. Guhl was able to flick the ball over the head of Reimer, who had come off his line to make a play on the ball. Guhl has a goal in each of Butler's wins over the Labor Day Weekend.

CLEAN SHEET
Sophomore keeper Gabriel Gjergji made a pair of saves in posting his second career shutout. Butler's back line, anchored by Rhys Myers and Griffin DeBolt in the middle, allowed Evansville only seven shots.
