Amanda Kowalski earned Defensive Player of the Week honors as announced by the BIG EAST office on Monday, September 30.
The Arlington Heights, Ill. native helped lead the Bulldogs to a 1-0 start in conference play this weekend. The clean sheet win was the fourth of the season for Butler and second in a row.
Kowalski anchored a Butler defense which limited host Seton Hall to just two shots on goal in Sunday's 3-0 conference road victory. The Bulldogs outshot the Pirates 26-9, including 9-2 on target, while earning 15 corner kicks to SHU's two.
Kowalski added a bit of offense as well, chipping in an assist on
Payton Black's 89
th-minute score. She also took two shots in the match, including one on target.

This is Kowalski's first player of the week honors of her career. The defender was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Sept. 9 for her defensive efforts in the 3-0 shutout of Michigan State and her three-point game against Milwaukee.
