The Butler men's tennis team moved to 5-2 on the year, falling 3-4 to Cleveland State on Saturday, Feb. 1 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Cleveland State claimed the doubles point after posting victories in the No. 1 and No. 2 flights.

In singles, the Bulldogs went down 2-0 after Thomas Brennan fell to #65 Nico Mostardi in the top flight (6-0, 6-2). 

Butler pushed back, as Drew Michael picked up the first point for the Bulldogs in the No. 5 flight, winning 6-1, 6-3. Michael Karr would record a victory in the No. 6 flight (6-2, 6-1) to even the match at 2-2
Cleveland State took a 3-2 advantage as Matthew Terry defeated Butler's Filip Tensing in the No. 2 spot. However, Alvaro Huete Vadillo came up strong for the Bulldogs, taking the No. 3 flight to a deciding third match for the win (6-4, 5-7, 6-3).

The match came down to the No. 4 flight, where Olof Wilklund battled with Clark Bilinovich, starting with a 7-6 first set that went to 9-7 in break points. Wiklund came back to win the second set, forcing a third set to decide the match. He came up just short (4-6) as Cleveland State took the 4-3 win.

The Bulldogs will travel to Youngstown State to round out their Ohio road trip. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
