The Bulldogs picked up a 4-3 win in their conference opener over Georgetown at the Butler Bubble on Saturday, Feb. 15.

Butler came out strong, taking the doubles point by winning the No. 1 and No. 3 flights. Thomas Brennan/Olof Wiklund took the top flight, 6-3. Drew Michael/Ryan Roegner just fell in the No. 2 flight, 5-7. Alvaro Huete Vadillo/Zach Trimpe closed out the point with a 7-5 victory at the No. 3 spot.

Brennan went on to claim the first singles win at the No. 1 flight (6-3, 6-2), putting the Bulldogs up 2-0. Michael closed out a three-set victory in the No. 4 flight, setting Butler up for the match point.

Georgetown went on to win the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 flights, setting up Roegner's No. 6 flight up as the deciding match. Roegner took set one 6-3, before falling 2-6. In the third, Roegner went down 3-5 before climbing back to win 7-6.

After clinching the home conference win, the Bulldogs then traveled to West Lafayette to face Purdue, falling 1-4.

The Boilermakers took the doubles point after swiping the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, as the No. 2 flight went unfinished.

Purdue picked up straight set victories in the top two flights. Michael halted the Boilermaker's sweep, winning 7-5, 7-6 in the No. 4 match. Purdue went on to claim the No. 6 flight, which was enough to take the match, allowing the No. 3 and No. 5 flights to go unfinished.

The Bulldogs return to the court tomorrow in Dayton, Ohio to face Wright State. First serve is set for 2 p.m. at the South Regency Tennis Center.
