The Butler men's tennis team left Dayton, Ohio with a 5-2 win over Wright State on Sunday, Feb. 16. The win moves the Bulldogs to 10-4 and the Raiders to 1-5.
In doubles, Butler got out to an advantage as
Alvaro Huete Vadillo/
Zach Trimpe won the No. 3 flight, 6-1. Â Wright State responded with wins in the top two flights to take the doubles point.
Singles play changed the tides of the match as Butler won four straight to claim the match.
Drew Michael started the Bulldogs off with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 4 spot, followed by a straight set win for Huete in the No. 2 flight.
Olof Wiklund and
Michael Karr closed things out with straight set victories in the No. 5 and No. 6 flights, respectively.Â
Filip Tensing also battled out a 7-5, 6-4 win the No. 3 spot.
The Bulldogs narrowly missed the singles sweep as
Thomas Brennan fell in a three-set match in the No. 1 flight.
The Bulldogs return to Indianapolis on Saturday, Feb. 22 to face-off with IUPUI and host BIG EAST opponent St. John's on Sunday, Feb. 23.
