INDIANAPOLIS – Butler football head coach Jeff Voris and his staff are excited for the incoming 2020 recruiting class. Programs from all over the nation will announce the newest additions to their rosters today as part of National Signing Day. Voris thinks many of these outstanding student-athletes will be able to impact the team when they arrive in August.
 
"National Signing Day is always an enthusiastic time within our program," Voris stated. "This year has been no exception. We are very excited to welcome another strong recruiting class. We will be releasing the entire class as one at a later date, so we can collect and process all the needed paperwork to publicize our incoming student-athletes."
 
The newcomers will add depth to a strong core of returning players. Butler will bring back eight starters from the 2019 offensive unit and five from the defensive side of the football. Four of the five offensive linemen are back in the fold for quarterbacks Sam Brown and Nick Orlando. The defense returns Mickey Kane up front and both Devin Aguilar and Beau Snuggs in the secondary.
 
"This class includes at least one player from every position group including specialist," Voris explained. "Although we very likely will sign a couple more players in this class, we feel as though we have created depth and competition across the roster.  We look forward to them joining us in August and their contributions to our program and the Butler Community over the next four to five years."
 
Butler highlighted the 2019 campaign with a 30-27 overtime win in the home opener, a 24-14 win on homecoming weekend and a 24-21 win on Senior Day to win the Battle for the Hoosier Helmet.
 
"Every year our staff sets out to sign a class that will fit seamlessly with the Butler Way," Voris added. "We truly believe that has been accomplished. The quality of student-athlete in this class is outstanding.  They have excelled inside and outside the classroom. They come from strong high school programs and represent seven different states."
 
The 2020 Butler football schedule was released in January. The Bulldogs kick-off the season on Sept. 5 at South Dakota State. Fans can also circle Sept. 19 on their calendars as the 2020 home opener.
