The Bulldogs dropped a pair of Saturday contests in Memphis, Tenn., falling to Indiana State and the host Tigers as part of the University of Memphis's event.
After Saturday's play, the Bulldogs are 13-6 on the season. Indiana State topped Butler, 9-6, while Memphis posted a 10-2 win in six innings.
In Butler's first game of the day, the Bulldogs and Indiana State combined for only one run through the first five innings of the game before the flood gates opened in the sixth.
Elyse Babb tied the game in the top of the sixth with her second home run of the season.
Indiana State answered in the bottom of the sixth with three runs to re-take a 4-1 lead.
The Bulldogs came roaring back to take a 5-4 lead in the seventh with four runs.
Lauren Fey started the scoring with an RBI double.
Maddie Moore matched her with an RBI double of her own to score the third run of the game. Babb's single to left center scored Moore and tied the game.
Mackenzie Griman put the Bulldogs ahead with an RBI double.
Butler's lead was short-lived as the Sycamores pushed across the tying run and then Annie Tokarek hit a walk-off grand slam for the final margin. It was her second home run of the game.
Karli Ricketts got the start for Butler, striking out seven and allowing two runs through 5-plus innings. Griman took the loss for the Bulldogs as she worked the seventh inning.
In the second game of the day, freshman
Loren Simpson got the Bulldogs on the board first with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. For Simpson, it was her second home run of the season and gave her a team-best 14 RBI.
Memphis would tie it in the bottom of the first and go on to score 10 runs over six innings for the 10-2 final.
Butler had four hits in the game.
Alyssa Graves got the start and took the loss for Butler. The Bulldogs, among the nation's best fielding teams, had three uncharacteristic errors in the game, which led to four unearned runs.
The Bulldogs conclude play in Memphis with a pair of games Sunday. Butler and Belmont match up at 11:15 a.m. Central, followed by a 1:15 p.m. Central first pitch with Youngstown State.
