INDIANAPOLIS – Butler and Stetson have met on the gridiron five times, with the Bulldogs winning four of those meetings. The first-ever contest between the conference foes came in 2013, the same year that Stetson joined the Pioneer Football League. The Hatters hosted BU in 2014, 2017, and most recently in 2019. BU home games came in 2013 and 2018. Playing at home can be beneficial with the Sellick Bowl being located 961 miles away from Spec Martin Memorial Stadium in DeLand, Fla.
 
Butler vs. Stetson Football Timeline
- Butler leads the all-time series over Stetson 4-1.

- The first meeting between Butler and Stetson was in 2013. The Bulldogs won at home 35- 15 by outscoring the Hatters 26-8 in the second half.

- Trae Heeter rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns vs. Stetson in 2013. Christian Eble led the defense with two sacks.

- Sam Schrader rushed for 193 yards and three touchdowns at Stetson in 2014 in just his fifth collegiate game. He also caught two passes for 40 yards and a touchdown helping Butler win 49-41.

- The last time Butler recorded a safety was at Stetson in 2017. Evan Giebel pinned the Hatters on their own four-yard line and Connor Andras would sack Cole Martin on the very next play. The defense led the way in the 23-6 victory.

- Butler's last win vs. Stetson came in 2018 at the Sellick Bowl. The Bulldogs were led by Stephen Dennis in the 28-23 victory. Dennis caught four passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns.

- Beau Snuggs recorded two interceptions vs. Stetson in 2019. BU ended the contest with four total. Johnny O'Shea also scored the first TD of his collegiate career vs. Stetson in '19.
