INDIANAPOLIS – San Diego outscored Butler 38-7 in the second half to come up with a 52-21 victory. Butler led 14-7 at the end of the first quarter and the two teams went into the half tied up 14-14. A blocked punt paired with two San Diego defensive touchdowns over the final 30 minutes would be the difference and hand the Toreros their second PFL win of the season.
How It Happened
Butler fumbled on their first drive which led to a short field and points for the Toreros. QB Mason Randall completed one pass, handed it off once, and then scored on a 16-yard run to open up the scoring.
BU quickly got back into the game on a three-play 75-yard drive to counter.
Nick Orlando found
Nate Walker deep for a 59-yard touchdown pass. They would take the lead on their next possession with
Brody Reder finding the end zone on a one-yard rush.
The two teams would head into the half tied up at 14-14. San Diego punched it in on a 12-play drive that covered 86 yards in 6:24. Randall hit Jefferson on a 22-yard TD pass to pull even before the break.
The second half was all San Diego, allowing the visitors to move to 2-1 in conference action. A 34-yard field goal would open up the scoring in the second half. The Toreros would then block a punt to set up score to give SD a 10-point cushion. Randall found Christian Brown for two TD passes and two pick-six interceptions would blow the game open.
Butler's final touchdown on Saturday was another run from Reder. The redshirt freshman scored with 1:30 left on a 11-yard rush.

San Diego blocked a Butler punt early in the third quarter to set up a quick score. Logan Gingg blocked the punt and Chase Lyons would recover the ball on the five-yard line. One play later, Rhyle Hanson scored on a five-yard run and San Diego would take a 24-14 lead.
