The Bulldogs suffered their first defeat of the 2021 season, falling (4-3) to Cleveland State Friday morning.

Drew Michael led in the #1 doubles match, 4-3, but went unfinished after the Bulldogs dropped the #2 and #3 matches.Â
In singles, Brennan defeated Cleveland State's Matthew Terry at the #1 in two sets (7-6 (5), 6-3) to grab the Bulldog's first point of the day. Brennan won the tie break in the first set and continued his excellent play on the day in the second set with a convincing victory.
On the fourth court, Alvaro Huete captured another point for Butler taking his match to the third set, where he was able to seal the deal 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-3.
Michael Karr grabbed the Bulldog's last singles win of the day, winning in straight sets with a tiebreak to close out the match (6-4, 7-6(4)).Â

Along with the doubles point, Cleveland State was able to take the team result with wins in matches 2, 3, and 5.Â
