@ButlerSoftball Travels to Seton Hall to Open Big East Play

Coming off a strong 3-1 weekend, Butler will head to New Jersey to face off against Seton Hall in a three-game series. The Bulldogs will play two games on Saturday and one game on Sunday. The series opens BIG EAST play for both teams.

Seton Hall plans to stream the three games.

Butler enters the weekend at 7-7, after three weekends of non-conference play at events hosted by Northern Iowa, South Alabama, and Chattanooga.

Seton Hall is 3-5 on the season, winning each of their last three games. In those three wins, the Pirates scored at least 10 runs in each game.

Junior pitcher Karli Ricketts was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week on Monday after going 2-0 in throwing shutouts against both Green Bay and Chattanooga.

From the circle last weekend, Ricketts was in complete control. She started the weekend by tossing a two-hit shutout against Green Bay, striking out six. On Sunday against Chattanooga, it was a three-hit shutout where she struck out nine batters. Ricketts did not allow a walk over the weekend.

Ricketts was also a big contributor at the plate last weekend. She had a .307 average over the four games, driving in six runs, including a three-run homerun on Sunday. She leads the Bulldogs this season with 16 RBIs.

Senior Alyssa Graves has also had a very strong start from the circle this season. She is 3-1 with just a 1.24 ERA, with one of those wins coming last Saturday as she threw her own three-hit shutout against Chattanooga.

Graves and Ricketts have combined to strike out 75 batters in 67.2 innings this season.

From the plate, junior infielder Lauren Fey has been leading the way for the Bulldogs all season. She has team-highs in batting average (.487), runs scored (9), slugging percentage (.615), walks (12), and on-base percentage (.608).

After this weekend, Butler will open play at home as they host Villanova in a three-game series starting on Friday, March 19.
