Rodriguez Tabbed BIG EAST Co-Goalkeeper of the Year; Six Bulldogs Earn All-BIG EAST

Six Bulldogs earned All-BIG EAST honors, headlined by Stephanie Rodriguez winning BIG EAST Co-Goalkeeper of the Year, as announced by the conference office Thursday, April 15. Rodriguez shared the player of the year honor with Randi Palacios of Connecticut.

Butler forwards Anja Savich and Katie Soderstrom were named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, while Rodriguez and Aliya Diagne were selected to the Second Team. Alli Leonard and Cailtin O'Malley both earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team.

Rodriguez was selected the Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year in February of this year and went on to post strong numbers in the regular season. The redshirt-junior complied five clean sheets, four of which came against conference foes. With a total of 14 shutouts in her career, Rodriguez moved to third on Butler's all-time list.

Rodriguez posted a 0.59 goals-against average on the year, which ranks third in Butler's single season records list. She also picked up 34 saves, including a season-high eight against Creighton. She was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week twice this season.

Savich earned All-BIG EAST honors for the third time in her career after co-leading the BIG EAST in scoring with nine goals, adding one assist. She tied Butler's single-game scoring record after nailing four goals against Marian, which doubled as her first hat trick.

Soderstrom, a 2019 All-BIG EAST First Team selection, returns to the list after a solid junior campaign that included five goals and five assists. Soderstrom joined Savich in the hat trick club after a three-goal showing against Dayton. Soderstrom and Savich were the only players in the BIG EAST to record hat tricks this season.

After being named to the All-Freshman Team in 2019, Aliya Diagne made the jump to Second team this season. The midfielder appeared in all 10 games for Butler, making nine starts. She had two goals and an assist on the offensive side of the ball this season.

Freshman forward Alli Leonard and defender Caitlin O'Malley had made the most of in their debut seasons. Leonard was third on the team in scoring with 13 points off three assists and five goals, including two game-winners.

In her first year with the program, O'Malley anchored the Bulldog's back line, clocking a total of 824 minutes, the second-most on the team behind Rodriguez. She logged complete games of 90+ minutes in five contests, including the last three match-ups of the season.
