Inclement weather interrupted the annual Big Four Classic late Tuesday afternoon with the coaches agreeing to shorten the event to an unofficial nine-hole event.
Both Butler's men and women captured the team titles.
Butler's men navigated the Prairie View front nine at even-par 144. Both
Logan Sabins and
Raymond Sullivan carded one-under 35s on the 3,343-yard first nine holes.
Michael Cascino was one shot back at even-par 36, followed by
Nick Williams (38; +2) and
Stephen Kocerha (40; +4).
Sabins and Sullivan tied with DePauw's Grant Germano and Jacob Kelber for the round of the day.
The Bulldogs were four shots better than second-place DePauw (148; +4). Wabash (157; +13) and Hanover (158; +14) rounded out the field.
Butler's women posted a score of 161 (+17) to best DePauw (169; +25), Hanover (177; +33), and Franklin (203; +59).
Butler's
Alaina Bowie and
Lexy Stuckey each posted a two-over 38 to join DePauw's Layla Ahmadi for the best individual score.
Claire Edwards shot 42 (+6), while
Avery VonDielingen and
Nicole Jordan each carded a 43 (+7).
The women played the front nine at a yardage of 3,092.
Both Butler teams will now turn their attention to the upcoming BIG EAST Championships. The women begin play Friday in Fort Myers, Fla., while the men's tournament will run Monday-Wednesday in Bowling Green, Fla.
