Butler's Michael Cascino shot an opening-round 75 (+3) Monday at the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Regional.

The 54-hole event is scheduled through Wednesday at The Sagamore Club in Noblesville, Ind.

Cascino and his fellow competitors had to navigate not only the par-72, 7,173-yard Jack Nicklaus Signature design, but also a rainy Monday.

Cascino is tied for 41st overall. His scorecard included a pair of birdies on the par-5 fourth and the par-5 14th. On the 14th, his eagle chip from the fringe burned the edge of the cup before he tapped in for birdie. Cascino had one bogey and a pair of double bogeys on par-3s in the opening round.

Travis Vick of Texas holds the 18-hole lead after shooting a four-under 68 Monday. He holds a one-shot lead over two others. Sixteen players were under par for the opening round. There are a total of 75 players in the field with Cascino as one of 10 individuals.

Texas also holds the team lead in the event, standing at 282 (-6). The Longhorns are three shots clear of Tennessee, North Florida and North Carolina, which are each tied for second (285; -3).

The Sagamore Club is one of six regional sites across the country.

The top five teams from each regional, along with the highest finishing individual not associated with one of those teams, will advance to the NCAA Championships to be held May 28-June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The first players are set to tee off at 8 a.m. Tuesday, while Wednesday's tee times will start at 7:30 a.m. ET. Admission is free.
