Thomas Brennan and
Michael Dickson have earned All-BIG EAST honors for the 2020-21 season as announced by the conference office on Thursday, May 6.
The major awards and All-BIG EAST team were voted on by the eight head coaches who could not cast ballots for themselves or their own student-athletes.
After winning the 2021 BIG EAST Championship, DePaul earned Coaching Staff of the Year and Vito Tonejc was tabbed Player of the Year. Marquette's Stefan Dragovic was named Freshman of the Year.
Brennan was one of three unanimous selection to the BIG EAST first team, boosting the highest UTR of any conference player. He went 11-5 on the season, primarily in the top flight for the Bulldogs, and dropped only one conference match to DePaul's Tonejc, the player of the year.
Dickson, the 2018 Freshman of the Year, returned to the courts after an injury sidelined him for the 2019-20 season. Dickson went 6-6 on the year, playing most his matches at the No. 2 spot, while also adding two No. 1 wins. Like Brennan, Dickson only dropped one conference match on the season.
Despite spending time with separate partners, Brennan and Dickson paired up at the No. 1 doubles for three wins. The top Bulldogs also helped lead Butler to a 2-1 conference record and a 2021 BIG EAST Semifinal appearance, falling to ultimate champion DePaul.
