CoSIDA Release
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Butler forward
Katie Soderstrom has been placed on the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District 5 Women's Soccer First Team. The honorees selected by CoSIDA represent the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Soderstrom, a junior from Carmel, Indiana, is an elementary education major with a 3.99 GPA.
Soderstrom started in all 12 matches for Butler this season and was near the team lead with 17 points. She scored six goals and was credited with five assists in a 10-win season that concluded with a trip to the BIG EAST Championship match.
This recognition is one of many for Soderstrom over the last two months. The day prior to playing UConn in the BIG EAST Semifinals, Soderstrom was named First Team All-BIG EAST. After the season, United Soccer Coaches tabbed Soderstrom First Team All-East Region, Scholar All-Region, and most recently a member of the Scholar All-America Second Team.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada. District 5 includes student-athletes from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early July.
