Challenging @ButlerMSoccer Schedule Features Six NCAA Tournament Teams

Full Schedule

Butler's fall 2021 schedule features six NCAA Tournament teams, including the two teams who met in the College Cup championship match.

This fall, Butler will face one-sixth of the most recent NCAA Tournament field as the COVID-19 pandemic moved the 2020 NCAA Tournament to the spring and limited the field to only 36 teams.

The Bulldogs open the 2021 campaign and the home schedule Sunday, August 15 when Michigan State visits Indianapolis. It is the first of three exhibitions on the Butler slate, as the team will also travel to Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Butler opens the regular season August 26 with a visit from Oakland. That match, along with the Michigan State exhibition, will be played at Varsity Field. The remainder of Butler's home matches are scheduled for the Sellick Bowl.

Butler travels to Indiana August 31 in the annual rivalry match-up between the two programs. The Hoosiers advanced to the national championship match in May. Milwaukee visits the Sellick Bowl Sept. 3. The Panthers were also part of the NCAA Tournament field.

UConn visits Indianapolis Sept. 18 to open BIG EAST play. It marks the first meeting between the two programs who are now conference opponents. UConn rejoined the BIG EAST a year ago, but the two programs did not play as the BIG EAST implemented regional play among the conference's Midwest and East universities.

A road match at defending national champion Marshall Sept. 29 begins a stretch of three consecutive contests against NCAA Tournament teams as Seton Hall comes to Indianapolis Oct. 2 and the Bulldogs travel to Georgetown Oct. 9.

The sixth and final tournament team on Butler's schedule is Marquette (Oct. 20 in Indianapolis).

Butler closes the home portion of its schedule Oct. 30 with a match against Creighton. The regular season finale is Nov. 3 at St. John's.

The top six teams in the conference standings qualify for the BIG EAST Tournament, which is scheduled to begin Nov. 6.

Coach Paul Snape enters his 11th season leading the Butler program. Snape returns the program's three All-BIG EAST selections from the fall in Wilmer Cabrera, Jr., Rhys Myers and Jack Haywood.
