No. 24/22 Seton Hall pulled away from Butler for a 71-56 win Tuesday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Â
Jared Rhoden led the Pirates with 17 points. Alexis Yetna had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Â
Seton Hall used a 15-2 run in the first half to turn a 16-9 deficit into a 24-18 lead with 6:15 to play. The Pirates would never trail again.
Â
"That's a disappointing result," said Butler coach LaVall Jordan. "Seton Hall picked up their energy midway through the first half and we didn't match it. We had good starts in each half but we didn't sustain that level of play. We have better basketball in us than what we showed tonight."

A
Bryce Nze three-pointer with 4:01 remaining in the game pulled Butler within six at 58-52, which was the closest Butler had been since the opening minutes of the second half. Seton Hall responded with seven of the game's next nine points to solidify the result.
Â
Bryce Golden led the Bulldogs with 19 points, one off his career-high. Three other Bulldogs registered double figures. All 56 of Butler's points came from their starting five as the Pirates held a 16-0 advantage in bench points.
Â
Both teams shot 41 percent, but the Pirates went 18-for-19 from the free throw line and had a 36-25 rebounding edge.
Â
Butler (8-5, 1-1 BIG EAST) played without
Ty Groce, who missed the game due to COVID protocols. Seton Hall (10-3, 1-2) welcomed back 7-2 center Ike Obiagu, who had missed the last three games. He had eight points.
Â
The Bulldogs continue their homestand Friday night, welcoming another Top 25 conference foe in Xavier. A limited number of tickets remain for the contest, which is slated for an 8:30 p.m. tip.
