@ButlerUFootball Leads from Start to Finish in 56-20 Win over Morehead State

INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler football team scored 42 first half points allowing them to cruise to a 56-20 victory over Morehead State on Saturday afternoon. The win was significant in keeping Butler undefeated at home this season (5-0). It also marked the 600th all-time win in program history.

The Bulldogs rushed for 290 yards and six touchdowns in the PFL battle against the Eagles. Joey Suchy picked up a team-high 99 yards for Butler. He scored the first touchdown of the day on a 21-yard run. Brody Reder was responsible for the next two BU touchdowns. Reder finished the day with 29 rushing yards. Three of his five carries resulted in a touchdown.

Second quarter scoring started with Bret Bushka hitting Jared Suchevits on a crossing route. Suchevits beat his defender and went up the sideline for a 43-yard TD reception. After Reder's third TD of the day, Bushka would take a fourth and goal play to the end zone, increasing the BU lead to 42-7.

The Bulldogs opened the second half with a 30-yard TD pass from Bushka to Tyler Adams. Adams led all receivers on Saturday with 91 yards. The final BU touchdown of the day belonged to Owen Keane. Keane played in jersey #40 and #62 on Saturday and was able to capitalize on a Quinn Warweg interception to plunge ahead for a one-yard TD.

Butler's winning recipe against Morehead State was running the ball and stopping the run. They limited Morehead State to just 49 rushing yards on 35 attempts. Connor Reid was the leader of the BU defense with nine tackles. Steven Williams II, Jack Belskis, Kody Leach and Jake LaBarre all recorded a sack against the Eagles and Will Mason led the 'Dawgs with three pass break-ups.

The offense scored a touchdown on all five of their red zone visits on Saturday. The first three drives of the day for BU went for six points and after one punt, the next three possessions all ended with touchdowns.

The Bulldogs have three games remaining on the 2022 schedule. Two of the next three will be on the road with Butler heading to San Diego on Nov. 5 and Drake on Nov. 12. Senior Day is set for Nov. 19 against St. Thomas.
