INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler softball team lost the second of a three-game series with UConn on Saturday, 5-0, missing out on a chance to displace the Huskies (19-13, 9-2 BIG EAST) at the top of the conference standings. The Bulldogs (19-11, 7-3 BIG EAST) will look to win the series as the teams face off one final time on Sunday.
How It Happened
- UConn scored one in the first but only held a 1-0 lead after three full innings.
- The Huskies added one in the fourth, two in the sixth, and one more in the seventh to increase the lead to 5-0.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Butler loaded the bases in a two-out rally but, ultimately, could not get anyone across the plate.
Butler Pitching
Mackenzie Griman (2-5) started for Butler and took the loss. In 3.1 innings, she allowed six hits, two runs (both earned), and one walk while striking out two.
Alyssa Graves (2.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 6 K) and
Madison Seigworth (1.1 IP, 3 H, R, ER, BB, K) each provided relief from the bullpen.
