INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler softball team lost the rubber match of a three-game clash with UConn on Sunday, falling 3-0. The game was scoreless through three innings, but the Huskies (20-13, 10-2 BIG EAST) scored single runs in the fourth, fifth, and seventh, and Bulldogs (19-12, 7-4 BIG EAST) were unable to respond.
How It Happened
- After a scoreless three innings, UConn got on the board in the fourth, 1-0, with a run-scoring double.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Ella White hit a double, followed by a Maddie Moore drive into deep left. UConn's Lexi Hastings tracked it down and stretched to make the grab, eliminating the Bulldogs' threat.
- In the fifth, the Huskies homered to take a 2-0 lead.
- In the seventh, UConn put together two singles to increase the lead to 3-0.
Butler Pitching
Karli Ricketts (9-3) started in the circle for Butler and took the loss. In 4.0 innings, she allowed two hits and two runs (both earned), while striking out six.
Alyssa Graves (3.0 IP, 3 H, R, ER, BB) finished the game from out of the bullpen.
Bulldog Bits
- Lauren Fey and Ella White (2B) produced the only Bulldog hits on the day.
- With 497.2 innings pitched in her career, Alyssa Graves has now moved into the sixth position on Butler's all-time list.

Butler will travel to Terre Haute, Ind., to play a midweek game against Indiana State. The game will take place on Wednesday, April 6, at 4pm.
