Butler to Face Virginia-Lynchburg for the First Time over Family Weekend

The Bulldogs are back in action after their bye week to host Virginia-Lynchburg Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The contest will be played over Butler's Family Weekend and will signal the end of the non-conference slate.

- The Bulldogs are 3-0 for the first time since 2009.
- Butler's 53-point performance vs. Hanover is the highest scoring output by any PFL team this season.
- Butler's 53-0 win over Hanover was the program's third shutout victory over the last 25 years.
- BU scored a touchdown on five-straight drives vs. Hanover. They scored seven total and added a field goal in the second half.
- Butler averaged 7.9 yards per rush vs. Hanover.
- BU rushed for 341 yards vs. Hanover, their highest total of the year, and most since Sept. 11, 2021.
- Ershod Jasey's 7-yard TD vs. Hanover was his first of the season and the third of his BU career.

- The Bulldogs limited the Panthers to just 12 yards of offense over their first four drives of the opening quarter.
- Butler didn't allow a first down to Hanover in the first quarter.
- Ryan Short's 25-yard field goal vs. Hanover was the longest made attempt of his career. Short is now 3-for-3 on field goals this year.

SCOUTING VIRGINIA-LYNCHBURG: The Dragons are 0-4 this year after taking a 56-7 loss at Morgan State. They are allowing 47 points per game and have not scored more than nine points in a game this season.
 
Butler will be the second PFL program to appear on VUL's schedule. Presbyterian defeated the Dragons 52-0 on Sept. 14.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: This is the first meeting between Butler and Virginia Lynchburg.
 
UNDEFEATED: The Bulldogs are one of nine undefeated teams in the Football Championship Subdivision.
 
Five of the nine teams are 1-0 and represent the Ivy League which just got started. Montana State and Mercer are 4-0, Delaware and BU are both 3-0.

PFL NEWS:
 PFL teams claimed four wins against their scholarship FCS brethren. Butler (at Murray State), Dayton (vs. Saint Francis), Drake (at Eastern Washington), and San Diego (vs. Cal Poly) victories helped the league post its most wins against FCS non-conference teams since 2019. 

TOP DAWGS: Butler leads the nation in red zone offense.
 
The Bulldogs are 11-for-11 on red zone scoring chances this season.
 
BEST OF BOTH WORLDS: Butler's offense is averaging 37.3 points per game this year and the defense is only allowing eight points per game over the first three contests.
 
Butler leads the nation in passing yards allowed (80.3) and are second in scoring defense.
 
EASY AS 1-2-3: Ethan Loss caught three touchdown passes in Butler's win over Hanover. He now leads the league in receiving TD's.
 
The last Bulldog to catch three touchdown passes in the same game was Brendan Shannon. His three TD performance came against Valpo on Nov. 9, 2013.
 
SUCHY SEARCHING FOR 1,000: Joey Suchy is just 39 rushing yards away from 1,000. He had a career-long 46-yard rushing TD in his last game.
 
Suchy is averaging 6.4 yards per rush this season.
 
HOWARD'S HAVING AN IMPACT: Nick Howard has scored at least one rushing touchdown in every game this season. He has also passed for 90 or more yards in all three games.
 
Howard ranks second in the PFL in yards per rush (6.8), third in rushing TD's (4), and third in rushing yards per game (75.3).
 
YOU ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR FIRST: Griffin Caldwell scored the first touchdown of his collegiate career against Hanover on a 21-yard run in the fourth quarter.
 
Caldwell set career-high totals vs. the Panthers with 82 rushing yards on 10 carries.
 
MOVE THE CHAINS: Butler went 11-for-14 on third down against Hanover (78.5%).
 
Butler leads the nation (FCS) in 3rd down conversion percentage (59.1).
 
SPECIAL TEAMER: Joey Audia leads the PFL in punt return yards (85).
 
Audia had a career-long 33-yard punt return in his last game.
 
STRETCH THE FIELD: William Enneking and Ethan Loss rank fifth and sixth in the PFL in yards per reception.
 
Enneking is averaging 16.5 yards per receptions and Loss is right behind him, gaining 16.3 yards per catch.
 
DAWGS PLAYING D: Adam Sturtz is the team leader in tackles for loss (4) and sacks (2). His 15 total tackles rank him third on the team.
 
Will Mason leads Butler with 18 total tackles. Nick Bafia is close behind with 16.
 
COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE: Butler leads the PFL in fewest penalties and fewest penalty yards.
 
The Bulldogs have only committed nine penalties this season. They rank ninth in the nation in fewest penalties and first in fewest penalty yards (80).
 
SNAP THE STREAK: The Bulldogs are 0-2 after their bye week under the leadership of Coach Uremovich.
 
Butler lost to Drake late in the 2023 season after their bye week and fell at Davidson in 2022.
 
UP NEXT: The PFL opener will be played over Homecoming Weekend as Butler plays host to Morehead State on Oct. 5.
 
Butler opened the 2018 PFL slate at home against Morehead State over Homecoming Weekend. The only other Bulldog home game to start league action was during the Spring 2021 COVID season.
