The Butler baseball team recorded two wins against Norfolk State on Saturday to move their overall record to 3-3. Game one was a 16-7 victory followed by a 10-0 shutout. Each game was played at the Carolina Athletic Park in Goldsboro, N.C.

Each offense was explosive in the opener with BU scoring nine of their 16 runs in the first two innings. Norfolk State fought back early with four runs in the bottom of the first, but 17 BU hits would push the Bulldogs over the top.

Ben Whiteside and
Brett Sherrard were the only two arms needed in game one. Whiteside got the win and Sherrard was credited with the save. In the start, Whiteside threw five full innings, striking out eight and only walking one. Sherrard took care of the final four innings, striking out three.

The Butler bats got a lift from
Jack Moroknek and
Danny Barbero. Each player had a double and a home run in the outcome. As a team, BU had seven doubles helping them score their 16 runs off 17 hits.

Moroknek went 4-for-6 with three RBI and three runs scored.
Tommy Townsend batted behind him in the cleanup spot. He went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and a double.

Moroknek stayed hot in game two, delivering another home run and double. He went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored in the 10-0 game.
AJ Solomon and
Ryan Drumm also had two RBIs at the top of the BU order.

BU had 12 hits to score their 10 runs and limited Norfolk State to just four in the seven inning game.
Tommy Townsend also had a ball leave the yard in the nightcap.

On the mound,
Marcus Goodpaster would claim the win. He struck out four over four frames.
Corbin Snyder also had four strikeouts over two innings while
Gabe Pancratz struck out all three batters he faced.

The Bulldogs will head back to Indianapolis on Sunday. Game three of the series will not be played due to weather conditions. Tuesday's tilt vs. Bowling Green is also canceled due to field conditions.
