Butler Falls to Boise State in College Basketball Crown Shootout, 100-93

Career-high performances from three different Bulldogs weren't enough as Boise State won a 100-93 shootout over Butler in the quarterfinals of the inaugural College Basketball Crown in Las Vegas.

Finley Bizjack's 30 points led all scorers in the game.

With the win, Boise State advances to a Saturday semifinal against either Georgetown or Nebraska. Butler's season ends at 15-20.

KEY STRETCH: An early run proved to be decisive as Boise State's 10-0 spurt turned a 23-23 tie into a 33-23 advantage with 8:59 remaining in the first half. Butler would never cut the lead to fewer than five the rest of the way.

OF NOTE:
  • Boise State shot 60 percent from the field, including an 11-for-24 performance from three-point range (46 percent).
  • Javan Buchanan came off the bench to lead Boise State with 27 points, making 11 of his 13 attempts from the field.
  • Boise State is now 26-10 on the season.
  • Bizjack's career-high 30 points for Butler included 6-for-9 shooting from three-point range and a perfect 8-for-8 night at the free throw line.
  • Freshman Evan Haywood and sophomore Boden Kapke each set a new career-best with 14 points apiece.
  • The 93 points scored by Butler were the second-most this season by the Bulldogs. Butler surrendered 100 points in a game for the first time since an overtime loss to UIC on March 2, 1996.
  • Butler's 55 points scored in the second half were a season-high; the 52 points allowed to Boise State in the second half were a season-high for a Butler opponent.

  • Butler shot 57.6 percent from the field, the team's second-best performance of the season.
  • The Bulldogs played without leading scorer Jahmyl Telfort, who will not play in the College Basketball Crown.
  • This was the second meeting between Butler and Boise State on the hardwood as the Bulldogs took a 70-56 win at the 2023 ESPN Events Invitational in Orlando.
