INDIANAPOLIS- The Bulldogs defeated the Pirates of Seton Hall on Sunday afternoon 2-1 in another BIG EAST matchup. The win improves Butler's overall record to 9-5-2 and 2-3-1 in conference.

Before play began the 'Dawgs honored five seniors in their second to last home competition.
Serina Kashimoto,
McKenzie Muchow,
Hannah Farley,
Tessa Faulkens and
Elizabeth James were all celebrated for their contributions to the Bulldogs during their careers at Butler.

"I don't know a better way we could have honored our 5 seniors today," said co-head coach
Tari St. John following the victory. St. John also noted a strong, all-around team effort, "Our work rate was exceptional and we played with heart. Our sideline was supportive and enthusiastic which you absolutely need in conditions like this."

The match saw goals by BU in both halves, with
Jamison Midgley and
Shannon McDevitt registering their first goals of the season. Midgley scored just short of the 11th minute of play, firing a bullet from 10-yards out and beating the keeper to the left side of the goal. Both
Carly Goehring and
Paige Monaghan received credit for an assist on the play.

McDevitt accounted for the second goal of the match at the 61:17 mark of play. The goal came off one of the 10 corner kicks that the Bulldogs took throughout the game. Kashimoto placed the ball perfectly in the box to allow McDevitt to knock a header in to put Butler up 2-1.

The BU offense was firing on all cylinders against Seton Hall. The team fell six shots shy of their season-high during the match by amassing 18 shots, with 11 on goal. Monaghan also set a new personal and team-high for the season with 10 shots to go along with her assist. Kashimoto and Midgley also contributed two-shots apiece towards the 'Dawgs total.

Hannah Luedtke played all 90-minutes in goal for the Bulldogs, accounting for one save and allowing just one goal. Luedtke, with the help of the rest of the Butler defense held the Pirates to just seven shots during the match.

"Today was a great representation of our program and everything our seniors have set about establishing during their time," St. John added.

BU will return to action against the Blue Jays of Creighton on October 20th for the 'Dawgs final home game of the season. Play will begin at 7PM in the Butler Bowl.
