WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Bulldogs lost their match to the Georgetown Hoyas Sunday afternoon on the Hoya's home field. The 5-0 decision drops the Butler record to 8-5-2 overall and 1-3-1 in BIG EAST conference play.
The Georgetown offense was firing on all cylinders during the first half, scoring all five of their goals on seven shots during the first 45 minutes.
Hannah Luedtke was in goal for BU in the first half, accounting for one save. Butler's lone shot during the first period was taken
Brenna Pawelkowski at the 7:33 minute mark.
The Bulldogs made a switch at goalie to start the second half when
Madison Card came in for Luedtke. With Card in goal Butler did not allow a single goal and held the Hoyas to just three shots during the second period. Card also amassed two saves during her 45 minutes in the net.
Pawelkowski fired her second shot attempt of the afternoon a little over 59-minutes into the match. Pawelkowski's two shots would end up being a team-high for BU. A few seconds after Pawelkowski's shot was blocked by the Hoyas,
Paige Monaghan was able to get a clean look on goal but her shot attempt was unfortunately wide.
The Bulldogs will return home for their next BIG EAST matchup when the Pirates of Seton Hall come to the Butler Bowl on October 16. The Sunday afternoon matchup will get underway at 1PM.
