Full Notes (PDF)

SEASON FINALE: The Bulldogs head to Des Moines, Iowa for their final game of the 2016 season. Butler will take on the Drake Bulldogs in a Pioneer Football League match-up that will mark the conclusion of the 2016 campaign. Butler enters with a 4-6 overall mark, while Drake is 5-4 overall and 4-2 in PFL play.

FOLLOW ALONG: Drake will offer a live video stream through GoDrakeBulldogs.com, in addition to an audio feed and live stats. Those links can be found on Butler's web site as well.

AGAINST THE BULLDOGS: In a series that dates back to a 0-0 tie during the 1932 season, Drake leads the all-time series, 16-8-1. Butler won the most recent match-up (2015) after Drake won in 2014. Jeff Voris is 4-6 against the opposing Bulldogs as head coach at Butler.

LAST TIME OUT: Butler dropped a PFL match-up to Morehead State, Saturday afternoon at the Butler Bowl, 54-28. Malcolm Weaver had a strong performance during the afternoon. The senior went 20-of-34 for 207 passing yards and four touchdown passes. Two of those touchdowns through the air went to sophomore Pace Temple. Temple led the Bulldogs in receiving with 92 yards on eight receptions. Morehead State passed for 465 yards in the contest.

SENIOR CLASS: This match-up will prove to be the last game in a Bulldog uniform for 15 graduating seniors.

LAST YEAR VS. DRAKE: Butler won last season's match-up with Drake, 20-13, at the Butler Bowl. Drake got out to an early 10-0 lead, but following a Jonathan Treloar 34-yard field goal to put the Bulldogs on the board, quarterback Matt Shiltz took over. Shitlz connected on two touchdown passes in the second half, one to Zack Wolfe and another to Marquese Martin-Hayes. Treloar sealed with deal with a 27-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter.

KEEPING THE PACE: Sophomore Pace Temple leads the PFL with 956 receiving yards this season. He ranks tenth in FCS. That is the sixth-best total in Butler single-season history. The record belongs to Zach Watkins, who had 1,044 in 2011. Temple had 92 yards on eight catches Saturday against Morehead State. He has three 100-yard games so far this season.

Temple's 59 receptions are second in the PFL. That also ranks ninth on Butler's single-season list.

ON THE GROUND: In the Oct. 29 win over Valparaiso, the Bulldogs enjoyed a 275-33 advantage in rushing yards. Butler's 48 rushing attempts and 275 rushing yards were both season-highs for the Bulldogs. The Butler defense limited Valparaiso's offense to a season-low rushing total for a Butler opponent this season.

HEAD OF STEAM: A majority of that rushing total against Valparaiso was gained by Duvante Lane, who had career-highs of 156 yards on 29 carries. It was his second 100-yard performance of the season after he gained 104 yards on only 12 carries against Taylor in the second game of the season.

BU DEFENSE HANDLING THE RUN: Butler's rush defense has been impressive all season and ranks at second in the PFL. The Bulldogs are surrendering a slim 105.1 rushing yards per game to their opponents, which is the 14th-best mark in FCS.

LEAGUE HONOR: For the second time this season, freshman kicker Drew Bevelhimer earned PFL Special Teams Player of the Week honors. On Oct. 29, he shared the award. He went 3-of-3 on field goals at Valparaiso. Earlier this season, he earned the PFL honor with his game-winning kick at Davidson. On the season, he is 12-of-14 on field goals.

FLIPPING THE FIELD: Senior Ian Dobek is third in the PFL, averaging 39.8 yards per punt. In the Marist game, he also placed four of his five punts inside the 20. The Bulldogs are netting 39.2 yards per punt thanks to tremendous coverage that has allowed an average of 1.6 total punt return yards per game, which is third in FCS.

In contrast, Butler's Isaak Newhouse is averaging 11.9 yards per punt return this season. That average is third in the PFL and 18th nationally.
