TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State swim team recorded a 143-107 victory against Butler in a dual meet over the weekend.
Harriet Davies was recognized as the standout swimmer of the meet for the Bulldogs.
"We were hoping to be more competitive at this meet," Head Coach
Maurice Stewart explained after the meet. "We just came off of a really tough week of training in Florida over winter break. All things considered, we are happy with the way a few of the women performed while being sore and tired."
The top performer was freshman
Harriet Davies. She competed in the 100 Free, 400 Free Relay and swam the fly in the 200 Medley Relay. Davies placed third in the 100 Free with a time of 55.89 and anchored the 400 Free Relay with a split of 55.47. She also posted a 27 split in the fly of the 200 Medley Relay.
Audrey Gosnell also made an impact in the meet with a first place individual finish and a great split for her relay team. In the 50 Free, Gosnell placed first clocking in at 25.00. The senior swam the fly in the 200 Medley Relay (A) and posted a 25.7 split to help the team finish second.
Tori Horton earned a second place finish for Butler in the 100 Back. The sophomore touched the wall at 58.51.
Rebecca Duncan led BU in the 100 Fly at Indiana State. She placed third overall with a time of 1:00.61.
Andee Bauer also swam well after missing the previous six weeks of competition with an injury. Bauer took third place in the 500 Free with a time of 5:24.7.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Sunday, Jan. 22 when they host the 7th Annual Butler Invite. St. Louis, SIU, Bellarmine, Xavier and Ball State will make up the field along with BU.
