INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs defeated two of the three teams they competed against on Saturday afternoon at the IUPUI Natatorium. Butler defeated Western Illinois 151-133 and Olivet Nazarene 190-81. IUPUI held off BU 220-74.

Maurice Stewart said after the meet. "Our support for one another, team spirit, and positive team energy is continuing to strengthen which is great to see."
Butler had eight new swimmers qualify for the BIG EAST Championship meet, pushing their season total to 15. Head Coach

Megan Hanson and
Isabel Heitmeyer the "Swimmers of the Meet". Freshman
Rachel Geller was also considered as honorable mention.
Hanson's best result was a third place finish in the 500 Free. She just missed a BIG EAST qualifying time in the event with a time of 5:19.07. The Bulldogs also placed fourth and fifth in the event with solid swims from
Abbie Linek (5:24.86) and
Olivia Klafta (5:25.47).

Tori Horton each set BIG EAST qualifying times in the 100 Back. Horton placed second with a time of 1:00.53. Hanson took fourth at 1:00.79.
Sofia Camarillo grabbed sixth place in the event (1:04.59) and
Saranne Louth came back to swim in the event after a long time off due to injury. She came in ninth with a time of 1:06.40. Freshman
Rachel Geller hit a BIG EAST qualifying time in the exhibition head (1:01.58).
Isabel Heitmeyer punched her ticket to the conference meet later this season in the 100 Free. She placed fifth with a time of 54.87. Horton took seventh place (55.17) and
Mattea Dumdey rounded out the BU trio in 10th (56.83).
The top performer for BU in the 100 Breast was
Emma Spotts. She was one of three Bulldogs to post a BIG EAST qualifying time. Spotts placed second (1:05.46),
Natalie Rohweder took fifth (1:08.82) and
Carson Middlebrook ended in sixth (1:09.43).
Multiple swimmers were active for Butler in the 100 Fly.
Annah Van Gheem took second place with a BIG EAST qualifying time of 59.66.
Emma Harris came in fourth with her time of 1:00.03 which is another qualifying time. Captain
Megan Rush just missed qualifying with her eighth place finish (1:01.70).
Noteworthy performances for BU in the exhibition session included
Claire Mastrandrea swimming a 1:00.62 and
Harriet Davies coming back with a 1:01.92.
Emma Harris clocked a third place finish in the 1000 Free on Saturday (11:02.37).
Andee Bauer (11:26.62) and
Madison Schluchterer (11:38) were also active taking the sixth and eighth spots
Alexis Faith was the top swimmer for BU in the 200 Fly. She placed fourth with a time of 2:14.67. Davies would lead BU in the 50 Free (25.11) and Mastrandrea would pace the group in the 200 Back (2:18.99). Each student-athlete finished in fifth place.
Faith also led Butler in the 200 IM. She placed seventh (2:18.40), Rohweder finished in eighth (2:18.51) and Spotts earned ninth (2:18.67).
BU had back-to-back finishers in the 200 Free. Klafta and Linek touched the wall in seventh and eighth with times of 2:02.25 and 2:03.85.
Yet another BIG EAST qualifying time for BU came in the 200 Breast. Allen placed sixth (2:33.20) and
Sydney Gurry just missed qualifying with an eighth place finish (2:33.47).
In relay action, BU placed second in the 200 Medley with a time of 1:49.39. Hanson led-off with a 28.43, Spotts had a fast split at 29.65.
Emily Klemptner (26.8) and Horton (24.45) rounded out the relay team.
The A Team in the 400 Free Relay got disqualified, but the B Team placed fifth (3:45.67). Harris Dumdey, Linek, and Van Gheem grouped up for the Bulldogs
