Senior
Lauren Tibbets placed fifth at the Charles Braun Jr. Intercollegiate, which finished Tuesday afternoon. The University of Evansville hosted the 36-hole event at the Oak Meadow Country Club over the past two days.
Tibbets used a Tuesday round of 76 to climb up from the tie for eighth she found herself in following Monday's opening round. Her four-over round on Tuesday combined with her 78 (+6) on Monday put her at 154 (+10) for the event and alone in fifth place.
IUPUI's Marion DeBove finished at 146 (+2) to post the individual win. DeBove shot 70 Monday and followed that with a 76 Tuesday. Only two golfers posted better rounds on Tuesday than the 76 registered by both Tibbets and DeBove.
Ally Ross shot 77 (+5) on Tuesday to finish the event at 161 and in a tie for 17
th. She shot seven strokes better on Tuesday after an opening-round 84.
Betsy Werner finished at 166 (+22; 78—88) to tie for 34
th.
Allison Kinsinger (170; T50) and
Claire Edwards (171; 54
th) rounded out the Butler five.
Freshman
Nicole Jordan, playing as an individual, shot 169 to finish in a tie for 45
th.
IUPUI won the event with a 36-hole total of 630. The Jaguars were five shots better than Southern Illinois (635) and six shots better than Indiana State (636). Butler, with a two-round total of 650, finished seventh in the 13-team field.
The competition over the past two days was the final tournament of the Bulldogs for the fall. Butler is back in action in late February at the Edwin Watts Kiawah Island Classic.
