KOKOMO – Butler recorded a 9-7 win over IU-Kokomo on Tuesday night. The extra inning game lasted three hours and forty-five minutes and would end with BU scoring two runs in the top of the tenth inning. The Cougars retired the first two batters of the 10th, but a costly error would score two BU freshman and give the Bulldogs their 25th win of the season.

Brock Balderson came out of the bullpen to earn the win and the save went to
Jack Pilcher. Offensively, Butler was led by
James Gargano, and
Harrison Freed. The duo combined for six RBI with each student-athlete recording three.

Butler jumped on the scoreboard in the top of the second off a Gargano three-run homer. They would regain the lead with two more runs in the fifth.

IU-Kokomo put up a great fight by scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 7-5 lead. Butler would tie it up with two runs in the seventh and win the game with two more in the tenth.

Freed's double to left in the seventh would score
Gehrig Parker and
Garrett Christman. The Bulldogs didn't need to record a hit in the 10th to pull out the win. Gargano was hit by a pitch to keep the game alive with two outs.
Andy Bennett would follow in the order after Gargano and reach base on balls to give BU two on with the two outs. A wild throw from the IU-Kokomo third baseman would allow Gargano and Bennett to come around and score.

Pilcher would enter the game for Balderson in the 10th and strike out the side to secure the win.

Butler returns to action tomorrow afternoon with a 4PM at home against Miami Ohio.
