Butler opened the 2018-19 season at the Illinois State-hosted Redbird Invitational, which concluded Monday afternoon.
The Bulldogs finished 12
th in the 14-team field and were led by senior
Lauren Tibbets, who finished in a tie for 34
th with a 54-hole total of 236 (+20).
Butler finished the event with a team total of 957. Monday's score of 314 was the best of the team's three rounds with the first two rounds coming Sunday at the 6,002-yard Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Ill.
Tibbets led the Bulldogs with a three-over 75 in the first round Sunday. She followed that with scores of 80 and 81.
Katelyn Le shot 239 (+23) with rounds of 79, 80 and 80. She finished in a tie for 43
rd and was Butler's second finisher.
Ally Ross shot a team-best 73 (+1) in Monday's final round. Only five golfers posted a better round Monday. Ross finished in a tie for 47
th at 240 (+24). Ross's Monday round included a two-under performance on the par-5's, which was best among the 84 golfers in the field. She added 13 pars.
Betsy Werner and
Megan Skoog tied for 70
th at 248 (+32). Playing as an individual in her first Butler event, freshman
Claire Edwards was T-41
st at 238 (+22).
Northern Illinois won the event with a three-round team total of 882 (+18). They were 17 shots better than second-place Eastern Kentucky (899, +35).
Brielle Ward of Northern Illinois won the event with a four-under 212. She won the event by five strokes over Ball State's Manon Tounalom (217, +1).
The Bulldogs return to action Oct. 1-2, hosting the Butler Fall Invitational at Highland Golf Club in Indianapolis.
